Seriously bBoy, you want us to leap from Christ's warning about the dangers of riches to the human soul to embracing the teachings of Karl Marx?

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, please note that there is NOTHING in the gospels that suggests that Christ expected the government to assume responsibility for the individual conscience OR freedom.

Consider Mother Teresa's words:

“I never look at the masses as my responsibility; I look at the individual. I can only love one person at a time - just one, one, one. So you begin. I began - I picked up one person. Maybe if I didn't pick up that one person, I wouldn't have picked up forty-two thousand....The same thing goes for you, the same thing in your family, the same thing in your church, your community. Just begin - one, one, one.”

The mandate to take care of the poor and befriend the friendless is not a call for government control; it is a call on your life and mine to do the right thing, one day, one step at a time.

Find me one place, just one, in scripture where Jesus Christ said or even implied that this should be the role of government?

Indeed, you SHOULD ask "What do you mean by that?" because the term "liberation theology," its origins nothwithstanding, has come at this time to be associated with communism, and more importantly has become a blunt force object used to hammer white people for all the ills people of color have suffered throughout our history.

These terms evolve through time and usage. What it meant at one time may have little to do what with it means today.

Black Liberation Theology was started in 1966 by 51 black pastors who also supported the goals of the black power movement at that time in our history. The generic form of liberation theology is more palatable than the "Black Liberation Theology" preached by the likes of the racist and anti-American radical Jeremiah Wright who served as the tutor/mentor for "OH-Bummer" for 20 years of his life!!!

The Black Liberation Theology preached by Jeremiah Wright is addressed by people more knowledgable on the subject than myself!

"...it would be illusory and dangerous to ignore the intimate bond which radically unites them (liberation theologies), and to accept elements of the marxist analysis without recognizing its connections with the (Marxist) ideology, or to enter into the practice of the class-struggle and of its marxist interpretation while failing to see the kind of totalitarian society to which this process slowly leads."
- (Author: Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, Prefect, now Pope Benedict XVI; written in 1984)

This sounds pretty Marxist to me:

...I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
