TACOMA: Dome didn’t do right by Gaga fans

I treated my daughters and niece to the Lady Gaga concert at the Tacoma Dome on Saturday night. As an attendee, you expect to be with people from many walks of life. You also expect in a venue like the Tacoma Dome, you are in a place that is safe, secure, clean and well monitored by staff.

During the concert, a fistfight broke out behind us.Tacoma Dome security was nowhere to be found. This fight ended when a group of innocent bystanders broke it up – people who came to enjoy the show and were forced to get involved. My girls were terrified.

In another incident, a girl seated near us began to vomit. The girl was intoxicated and underage and came to the Tacoma Dome this way, but was admitted nonetheless.

When someone projectile vomits over two rows of seats, and many ticket holders sitting nearby are forced to vacate, and others are forced to smell the stench of the vomit throughout the concert, and nothing is done, it is unacceptable.

The conditions we found in the women’s bathroom were disgusting. The floors were wet, covered in black slime. The toilets were clogged. I have never seen anything like this at any venue in the greater Seattle area, including Key Arena, Husky Stadium or Safeco Field.

After the concert, when I sought out someone to talk to from the Dome, I found no one. The Tacoma Dome is an embarrassment to the city. We will not return.

Was this your first concert at The Dome? Sounds pretty standard to me. It’s a s***hole.

  5. Pray4Peace says:

Why that monstrosity hasn’t gone the way of the Kingdome is beyond me.

  6. frankiethomas says:

I think it depends on the performer you are going to see and the audience that performer attracts. I took my daughter to the Jonas Brothers last year (I know, incredibly self-sacrificing on my part) and we had no problems whatsoever at the Dome.

  7. alindasue says:

It really must have to do with the particular performer because I’ve been to several events and rock concerts in the Tacoma Dome and have never encountered any of the problems you mentioned seeing at the Lady Gaga concert.
