MOSQUE: Robinson’s opinions not based on fact

Re: “Pandering over a mosque that isn’t even at ground zero” (Eugene Robinson column, 8-17).

Robinson’s column was especially vicious in its opening. He takes pride in labeling a group of people with distinctive words like “jingoism” and “xenophobia.” His hatred of Republicans is without question, and he justifies his position with his opinion, which is not based on proven fact. I am sure that the mainstream opposition to the proposed mosque near ground zero comes from a broad cross section of people, not just “Republicans.”

Robinson’s brand of reporting resembles all the principles of another well-read individual from another time – Joseph Goebbels. History does repeat itself!

  1. madmike272 says:

John, Robinson has never worried about facts, nor the truth. Robinson has proven himself over and over again as a racist, leftist political propagandist for the very far left. Robinson wouldn’t know truth or honor if it hit him in the head.

  2. BlaineCGarver says:

Robinson: King of the Straw Man argument. One way or the other, I hope and pray that the Mosque will never open for business.

  3. John if p[eople who are against the mosque are not relying on the jingoism and xenophobia stirred up by Fox News, but are relying on facts to make their opinions, please provide me with those facts. All I’ve seen in the comments to these letters are repeats of the lies, fear hatred of Muslims, inaccurate portrayal of this peace-loving congregation headed up by a pro-American imam, and other falsehoods espoused by Fox and politicians who are trying to politicize a national tragedy of 9/11.

  4. Comparing Mr. Robinson (Nobel Prize) to Goebbels is hyperventilation personified.
Mr. Falkowski should hold his breath and count……………….to get back in balance.

  5. lovethemountains says:

Fox News. Fox News. Fox News. Libs must come up with a jingo other than Fox News and “Bush did it” to have anything substantial to say.

I guess I’ll start blaming every liberal idea as nothing but junk from Air America.

  6. nothing quite like a Goebbels comparison for someone arguing against the bigotry against a religious group.

Do you even understand how that is more than a little ironic?

  7. “mainstream opposition to the proposed mosque near ground zero comes from a broad cross section of people, not just “Republicans.”

actually it comes from Americans, and that’s all the lefties need to be on the opposite side of the issue. Their hatred of America is passionate, deep, and maniacal.

  8. the3rdpigshouse says:

And here comes beerBoy with a lame defense for the indefensible anti-American racist and “OH-Bummer” supporting Robinson! Robinson should be shunned by all those who consider themselves a patriotic American!

  9. IS – we were right in our opposition to the Iraq invasion and we were in the minority then. We are right in our support of equal treatment under the law now.

Americans are mediated sheep that can easily be turned to their worst instincts by those who would seek to benefit through hate-mongering.

  10. Sumner401 says:

It’s scary and somewhat disturbing to read fox noise robots say others are not being truthful.
Has murdock brainwashed them to the point that only he and his network are acceptable to them?

  11. Newscorp (Fox parent corp) donated $1mill to the Republican Governors. “Fair and Balanced”…..yah sure ya betcha.

  12. Roncella says:

BeerBoy,/Liberals, Lets get real on this one. $1 mill is peanuts compared to what the Democrats/Obama get from big Movie Stars, George Soros, Unions on and on.

Its always interesting to me how threatened so many liberals/Dems. are of Fox News. Here is one lonely Cable Channel that does give and discuss both sides of the issues. It offers some shows with a definite slant to the right on alot of current news.

Now the rest of the Cable Channels including CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, all lean left and some lean far left. Print News like the New York Times and so many other Papers all lean left, Letterman, Stewart, Sat night live, Left leaning Clown shows (taken as fact by many liberals/dems).

It seems just saying Fox News, Sara Palin, George Bush etc. seem to cause Liberals to go into some sort of fits. Is there actually a mental disorder in play here ?

  13. ron…..movie stars, George Soros, Unions, etc…..nope….none of them are news agencies.

If you don’t see the problem with a new company actively supporting one Party and then claiming to be fair and balanced, you are truly blind.

  14. btw – that isn’t to say that both wings of the Money Party isn’t bought and sold and we would be much better off if we could significantly change the way politics is prostitution.

  15. lovethemountains, you can tell that people repeat Fox News, because that is the only organization that has stated the lies and distortions people are citing to base their opions on. Please give me a reason to be against the community center and house of prayer that did not come from Fox News. Here are the things I have heard people state that came directly from Fox News commentators, including Newt Gingrich that I have shown by fact and reference tor eal history are false:

all Muslims are terorists; Muslims want to build their mosque as a sign of conquest; they named it Cordoba House as a sign of the Muslim conquest of Spain; Jefferson did not really host the Tunisian ambassador to a Ramadan dinner; the site is at Ground Zero, the imam has spread hatred against the United States in speeches; Obama didn’t even acknowledge the pain of the victims and their families during his speech at the White House Ramadan dinner. As I and many others have shown, each of these statements are downright false. There may be a few more lies I have demolished, but those are the ones I can remember offhand.

If you have a reason for the community center not to be built that Fox News didn’t start as a lie, or repeat knowing it was not true, please let me know. Then I would be willing to listen.
