ELECTION: Dicks’ re-election vital to each of us

Letter by Dawn E. Lucien, Tacoma on Aug. 17, 2010 at 1:33 pm with 22 Comments »
August 17, 2010 1:33 pm

Norm Dicks is a dynamic, caring person who has placed the needs and concerns of the 6th District at the top of his list for the past 33 years. Rep. Dicks is Vice Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, Chairman of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, and Vice Chairman of the Interior and Environment Appropriations Subcommittee. His Committee assignments have given him many opportunities to do special things for his District and his Country,

Norm successfully fought to get the Air Force to reopen the bidding for the $50 billion air refueling tanker program, and now Boeing has a fair shot at winning the contract which will create thousands of good jobs in Washington State.

His interest in defense is matched by his avid concern for foreign policy and international trade. He has made many trips to other parts of the world to learn and observe, and to find ways to bring his expertise to bear in meaningful activities in this District and our State.

Norm has been fighting to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and bring clean energy jobs and industries to our state.

Norm voted for the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act which would prevent big financial companies and banks from engaging in the kinds of risky deals that led to the financial collapse and will make sure we don’t ever have to bail them out again.

Thr re-electIon of Congressman Norm Dicks is vital to each of us.

Ms. Lucien fails to disclose she/family worked for Norm Dicks. Sorry not this time.

  2. stockton508 says:

    Olympicmtn –
She worked for Norm Dicks over 20 years ago, what does that matter if she wants to write a letter about Norm? Dawn has been a civic leader and in the forefront of getting things accomplished in the City of Tacoma since working for Norm. What have you done for the community?!
At least Dawn is brave enough to write a letter in her name and not hide behind a made up blogger name and sitting back throwing bombs.

  3. truthbusterguy says:

Why can’t Norm find a common person to write a letter endorsing him? All letters in recent days have been from union hacks, hard core socialist democrats, or maybe blood relatives using anonymous names.
Ms. Lucien is a liberal democrat and served on the more fees, higher tax, and more spending city council. She just wants more of the same.
Norm has done nothing but do what Nancy Pelosi told him to do. He is incapable of reasonable thought. He failed us on cap and trade and when 70% of calls and letters were for him to vote NO on cap and trade his staff told people Norm knows what is best for you. The same happened when he voted on Obama care. Plus he admits he didn’t read either bill.
His committee positions won’t be there in Jan. 2011. The GOP is taking back the congress and Norm will be assigned to the back of the room. Don’t vote for him because of his committee positions. Those are short lived and there is no more pork for him to bring home. Norm has to go and this year.

Before you vote for Norm go to an event and listen to him. You will leave the meeting shaking your head and agree with me.

  4. olympicmtn says:

Boy some are EDGY today, give a little TRANSPARENCY to the reader and get hit by a psychopath. Take a chill pill or did the Sonic Boom from the Murray debacle push you off the couch this afternoon. Independent, tax payer who votes.

  5. truthbusterguy says:

Not a psychopath, just mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore!!! Sick of Dems that lie and just want more of the same. They are killing the country a dollar at a time.

  6. PumainTacoma says:

I totally agree Truthbusterguy but Mr. 508 lb. stocky blogger is sensitive today. Don’t doorbell his house.

  7. the3rdpigshouse says:

NO MORE DICKS!!! Should be the rallying cry for the removal of all socialist democrats from State & Federal office holders!! This guy is a rubber stamp for that marxist/socialist “OH-Bummer”!!!

  8. I have never voted for dicks.

  9. iamjimbo says:

    Vital… ?

    I’m thinking detrimental….

  10. villager98 says:

I see all of the something-for-nothing crowd has checked in on Dawn Lucien’s letter. I doubt the whole lot has collectively contributed 1% of what Ms Lucien has given to this community.

  11. Sumner401 says:

Sick of Dems that lie and just want more of the same. They are killing the country a dollar at a time.

And you think that reps that lie and want more of the same middle class wealth killing the country a trillion dollars at a time are better?
    Odd.

  12. Sorry Norm, time to clean house.

  13. the3rdpigshouse says:

Washington’s ignorant and government dependent class has voted once again for the socialist democrat Dicks – no surprise there – that’s why Washington is often referred to as the Socialist State of Washington!!

  14. stockton508 says:

Truthbuster – So 8 years of GOP rule let us to prosperity? It led us to the worst economy since the depression. You are not going to take what anymore?! I bet nothing has changed in your life so get off your high horse.

  15. iamjimbo says:

No Stockton… (when did the GOP “rule” for 8 years?) it was the last 2 years of Bush’s presidency… you know, the first 2 years (of the nearly 4) that the dems have been “ruling”…

You bet nothing has changed??? Weird… so much for “change” huh?

  16. Don,t waste your time voting for or against Dicks. The election results will be,according to my chrystal ball ,will see Dicks and Murray back at their desks waiting for their next instructions from Obummer.Say you heard it here first!!!!!

  17. stockton508 says:

iamjimbo – Bush was in for 8 years and was in charge and had veto power. Outside of a few times on TV to help out his duaghter on the Today show, Bush is not showing his face or campaigning for anyone. Which tells you he is unpopular and ineffective becuase he and his Masters put us in this mess.

  18. iamjimbo says:

No Stockton, Bush does what all past presidents did, with the exeption of 2 former narcissistic democrat presidents. He got out of the way and lets the new president do his job. Billy job and the p-nut farmer were just too full of themselves to retire quietly… so sad.

  19. stockton508 says:

So George Sr. is not out there now working side by side with Clinton on international issues?? Iamjimbo, do your homework before you type. Ignorant fool!

  20. the3rdpigshouse says:

The socialist democrats will undoubtedly fall back on the “Lets Steal the Seats if the Election is Close Plan” !!

Remember the “Gregoire” & “Cantwell” contests – late blooming ballots and illegal voters!!! Works in Washington!

  21. iamjimbo says:

    When was George senior president?
    Fool.

  22. headedsouth says:

iamjimbo – looks like Stockton508 gets the last laugh, Dicks is the winner which makes the residents in district 6 winners as well!
