ELECTION: Make your vote count

This year’s elections are crucial. We have the opportunity to stop the rapid movement towards socialism, save our economy and our constitutional rights. We must replace members of Congress who voted blindly to follow the programs proposed by the radical Obama-Pelosi partnership.

This includes the need to replace incumbents like our 9th District representative, Adam Smith, who lists himself as a moderate but is not at all moderate in his voting record. A stimulus package, dependent on borrowed money of nearly a trillion dollars, was rushed through to keep unemployment at no more than 8 percent and avoid financial collapse. With that stimulus plan unemployment is nearing 10 percent, and small business is yet to get the help it needs.

Hundreds of banks, mortgage houses and two major automobile companies came under government control. Almost a quarter of the stimulus money remains unspent and yet a new bill was just signed for another $26 billion by President Obama. Because businesses are uncertain over future taxes and fees, the unemployment situation remains stagnant.

With the unread health care plan, which was also rushed through, Pelosi said we had to pass the bill in order to find out what was in it. After passing it, we still have not fully realized the effect it will bring to our wallets and health care system.

We may not be able to repeal the bad bills enacted but we must vote to stop the spread of big government, curb our reckless spending and deter the slide towards socialism.
