ELECTION: Chushcoff beholden to no one

After reading the article regarding the specter of bias on the state supreme court (TNT, 8-8), I wondered if you were aware that for Position 6, the only candidate not touting endorsements is Judge Bryan Chushcoff.

While both incumbent Richard Sanders and challenger Charlie Wiggins repeatedly extol their endorsements here, there and everywhere, Chushcoff is the only independent candidate in this race as it is intended to be – apolitical.

Supreme court justices should not be representing the Republican nor the Democrat ideologies. They should be representing the people of Washington.

Chushcoff also is not accepting campaign contributions. Isn’t this newsworthy? What other candidates have established this as a tenet in their campaign? He has served as a Superior Court judge for 14 years in Pierce County and is currently serving as the presiding judge.

Never trust anyone who has a “dead fish” handshake.

Judge Bryan Chushcoff is a larger-than-life individual. Just be thankful he had the courtesy not to apply the full measure of his strength and ability. After all – he is a moderate.

As a young adult, I am somewhat new to the voting scene. I have closely followed each candidate’s campaign (even sitting through TV-W programming).

Saying that, I am still amazed how disappointed I feel by the entire election process. Oftentimes it seems I am confined to vote for a candidate that represents the very far left or very far right.

I think Judge Chushcoff is different in this regard.

When I opened the voter’s pamphlet, I was able to read the candidate’s profile – without seeing a list of people who may influence his decision-making on the bench.

I really appreciate that Chushcoff has reached out to both more mature and younger communities through his website and remains relatively a-political.

He is an example of what a judicial candidate should be and I strongly support him for Supreme Court Justice Position 6!

Judge Chushcoff is a superb candidate for Position No. 6. I admire the way he’s handled the Superior Court’s budget…with realistic goals and difficult decisions. He is a commanding presence but has also the personality and strength of character that would let me sleep a little more easily at night. Especially with Nazi-wearing nutcases and reptilian mud slingers as my other options. Thanks News Trib for putting in this public opinion, may it speak for the silent majority. Everybody get out there and vote for God’s sake!
