TACOMA: Closing Tyler harmful to business

South Tyler Street in Tacoma has been closed to through traffic as a matter of convenience without regard to the businesses and residents there. The reason the city gives is that it is being used as a “staging” area – a parking lot for equipment – on an arterial!

Until Tuesday the flaggers would routinely “screen” motorists, asking them their names and destinations.

Tyler has been an arterial for 50 years, a shortcut between Tacoma and Lakewood. To arbitrarily close it for the equipment parking lot is inexcusable.

The improvements will include trees and flower beds. Your taxes at work on Tyler!

Good luck if the city and its almighty planners choose your street to make improvements.
