ELECTION: Wilcox supports environment and private property rights

I am writing to urge 2nd Legislative District voters to vote for JT Wilox Aug. 17. He is running against a long-time incumbent and I, like many others these days, believe that it is time for a change.

I’ve spent a great deal of time with JT over the years and have great confidence in his commitment to service and his fundamental agreement with the values that are important to me. He is rock solid on preserving and improving small business, supporting community schools and local control of them, and reducing the size of government and taxes. He also believes, as I do, in the 2nd Amendment.

The Wilcox family also has a unique perspective on private property and the environment. JT will never waver in his commitment to private property rights. But like most farmers, the Wilcoxes have shown a deep understanding of the responsibility landowners have to preserving the natural environment.

For these and many other reasons, I am voting for JT and I urge other voters to do the same. He will be a representative we can be proud of.

(Edwards is a retired Thurston County sheriff.)

  1. Publico says:

If he really is a gun nut, vote for the other guy. Too many guns in our society and it is time to make a change of direction to get around what the Supremes (5-4) say about the 2nd Amend.

  2. I agree with Gary Edwards and believe that JT Wilcox is the better candidate for the 2nd district. I have done a bit of homework on Tom Campbells voting record and he does not favor well with small business. I believe the small business association had him at a negative rating. I am also against all the political money he has taken from the unions. If we are ever to balance our budget we need to ask our representatives to wash their hands of the unions money. In the near future we the tax payers will be asked to bail out the underfunded pensions of the union workers. I prefer my representative not to owe anyone but their constituents.
Both candidates are in support of the 2nd amendment . I would dare try to find anyone who lives in rural Pierce county who is not in favor of the 2nd amendment. We have slow response times for police as we cover a large rural area and have few sheriffs.
I believe it is time for a change.

Supporting the 2nd Amendment is the same as saying you support gun violence. The two are permanently connected. We are amazed the Supremes could not descern that with the available data. Oh, I forgot. It sort of says so in the Constitution which was written 200+ years ago when they had only single shot muzzle loaders.
