Thanks to Pierce County for voting to repair Sprinker Recreation Center. This is appreciated by all those that use the only recreation center in the county and will serve future generations that will also use it.
In the news lately we often hear of bids or large construction projects coming in under budget. This should be an incentive to move forward with the Sprinker project as soon as is possible. The county should not have more delays until the costs escalate once again. If that happens the problems of repair costs will be repeated and suddenly become a crisis again.
In the meantime, I hope that instead of the closing date of Oct. 31 that had been announced, the center will now stay open until the repair project begins. There is no point in having what has now been declared as a safe facility to stay idle and unused. Not only is it heavily used, but it generates income, which is important in this financial climate.
