COUNTY COUNCIL: Iverson knows needs

Todd Iverson is the best choice for Pierce County Council, District 7.

The Port of Tacoma is our economic engine; 40 percent of all jobs in our county are tied to the Port of Tacoma in some way. The council should do more to partner with the port and find ways to expand services that lead to increased economic investment in our county.

The council has been in a cut-and-run mentality that results in fewer services and frustration to people. Iverson, a working longshoreman who knows the port “from the water up,” is the candidate best suited to work with local leaders to create and keep jobs. His strong commitment to working families will help the council have a human concern, rather than just business and banking, in its decisions.

Iverson is endorsed by many local and state elected officials, including state Sen. Derek Kilmer and Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland.

  1. blakeshouse says:

Yeah thats just what Tacoma needs, another union lackey doing the unions business instead of the peoples. This state is swirling in the crapper now with all the union sympithisers/socialist/marxists in govt.

  2. InsideJob says:

“endorsed by many local and state elected officials, including state Sen. Derek Kilmer and Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland”

Well that is two strikes against him.

  3. headedsouth says:

Iverson is a longshoreman not a problem solver. Big deal if a bunch of do nothing politicians endoresed him, those same people get thousands of dollars of campaign contributions from the Longshore Union. With 20 unions representing Pierce County employees, how could a labor guy like Iverson ever so no to them when they want more money and more benefits regardsless of how broke Pierce County is.

  4. Check out the online voters’ pamphlet, http://wei.secstate.wa.gov/pierce/leftmenu/Pages/OnlineVotersGuide.aspx

for the Pierce County Council District 7 and you will find that Todd Iverson is one of only three that have a four-year degree. Not only does he know the realities of actual physical work, he values education and has the capacity to complete a university degree.

All the current council members seem to have at least a four-year degree, so it must have been important to voters at one time.
