PIERCE COUNTY: East part is underserved

Re: “Flood control benefits all of Pierce County” (editorial, 7-14).

The editorial provided a rationale for taxing the entire county for flood protection and discussing a sliding tax scale. As a plateau resident, it strikes me that a number of county taxes should work that way.

We are underserved by transit and law enforcement. I would gladly pay more for service that worked, but when it is easier, faster and more convenient to travel to Seattle rather than to Tacoma – or even to Sumner – I become unwilling to pay.

Sometimes I don’t think the western part of Pierce County knows or cares that we exist – except when money is involved.
