After retiring from public school district work in Arizona three years ago, I was selected to return to a position with the state of Arizona. Because that state-level position was also a part of the same retirement system, state law required that I suspend my pension. While working in that position, my service did accrue retirement “credits,” thus affecting the pension I eventually received after leaving the job in 2009.
What would prevent Washington state from enacting a similar law? The politics of power? Right! Never mind.
