BIOMASS: Incinerator doesn’t make sense

We live in Mason County because it has clean air and water (mostly). I just can’t see allowing a biomass incinerator, spewing particulates too small to see, to take that away from us.

Why send our federal stimulus dollars to a French company (AREVA), partnered with a North Carolina company (Duke Energy of Hanford), incorporated in Maryland, that will sell the energy to California?

This project makes no business sense without federal and state subsidies. I just can’t see it.

  1. Neither can I Roslynne, sadly development of almost any kind is desirable in the eye’s of our politicians

  2. headedsouth says:

Its about jobs and clean energy. Washington state power companies have been selling power to CA for decades so why are you trying to make it look bad that Areva is doing it?! Foreign companies have been working within the United States and using Federal monies to make profit for decades. But they also create thousands of jobs in the US. American companies do the same thing in France and in other countries as well. Your car puts outs particulates that you cant see as well, are you going to stop driving?

  3. Refrigerator says:

I do not want the incinerator here either. All across the US this Biomass idea is being turned down, we are not the only community being pushed to accept this bad bad idea. We are not alone here in Shelton by not wanting this. Biomass is not the answer.

NIMBYs….PITAs, everyone of you. You’ve raped and despoiled your own personal piece of pristine landscape and NOW don’t want it touched anymore? You Greeners better decide if you want power that won’t bankrupt the nation in 20 or 30 years.
