For governments, NGOs and media to condemn any state for demanding the right to inspect shipments bound for an enemy state is the height of hypocrisy. Hamas’ charter calls for the destruction of Israel and has done all it can to realize that goal. The flotilla recently moved to Ashdod is one more example.
To follow Turkey’s lead in defining human rights – ask the Kurds, Cypriots, Greeks, Armenians – shatters common sense.
To claim the purpose was humanitarian relief – and then manning the ships with armed terrorists – and claiming their peaceful intentions, is a lie.
Before leaving port and while at sea, Israel offered to transport to Gaza all food and humanitarian supplies after inspection in Ashdod. Earlier intercepted shipments to Gaza contained weapons destined to kill Israelis. Since returning Gaza to the Palestinian Authority, Israel has delivered more than 10,000 tons of food, medicine and civilian supplies each week. Put the blame for any shortages where it belongs – with Hamas.
Gaza was not created by Israel. “Free Gaza” may have missed that Gaza is free to do whatever – except kill Israelis, deny Israel’s right to exist and retain (now four years) Gilad Shalit against all human rights conventions.
The hypocrisies, distortions and outright lies employed to label Israel “the pariah state” while working for Iran and Hamas’ obscene and murderous efforts to destroy Israel ( they now include all Jews worldwide) is a monumental obscenity in itself.
Alas, there are a lot of liberals who share Helen Thomas’ view of the world.
The cockroaches are coming out of the woodwork. Just read any liberal’s comments and see who the real bigots are.
I think its just become vogue lately for liberals to pretend that Hamas isn’t bent on the destruction of Israel, and that somehow Israel defending herself is a bad thing…..weird logic:(
Melchizedek X (Abraham + Isaac + Jacob)=Hatikva. The “right-of-return” is 1,940 years old. Shalom and Selah…and Jerusalem IS the capitol of Israel…
When attempting to defend the indefensible a common tactic is to demonize those who would point to the obvious problems in policy……call them racist, bigot, antisemite…..make them defend themselves before they can make comment.
larsman…..the religion of Abraham isn’t just Judaism.
Bb- Referring to the continuity of the Abrahamic Covenant Gen. 12: 1-6 the promise and blessing are afforded through Isaac to Jacob and his 12 sons, throughout the Egyptian captivity, the Exodus and the subsequent claiming (again, God’s promise) of the land of Canaan. The Muslims hijacked the name of Abraham ( Islam, the surrender, did not exist prior to 632 AD). Palestine was never a country or a race, that was composed of those who the Romans subsequent to Titus and Vespasian allowed to remain after the Diaspora. Jerusalem is never mentioned in the koran as a city belonging to Mohamed, Islam or having any future significance to a Caliphate. Ishmael and Esau were promised other territories to the east and given blessings other than those afforded the Hebrews which term originates with Eber 6 generations prior to Abraham. And..Jesus died for Whosoever…

Bb-before you blame practicing Jews even for WWI (and it looks like you mean WWII also) consider that apostate Jews also enjoy freedom of the press, too. Some purposely confuse the stark differences between those who are ‘born’ Jewish and those who actually believe the CONTEXT of the Torah, Mishna, Hebrew Bible and the Septuagint. Yes there is a difference between apostate bankers and real Jews who, at Passover repeat the promise ” Next year in Jerusalem” and actually mean it. Concerning Book 5 of Moses, there is historical context concerning Amalek, sailors from Cyprus who later became Canaanites and practiced atrocities on a daily basis. God even gave them several generations to repent and they continued child sacrifice anyway. God knew that to let them continue among His chosen people would be like allowing cancer to continue. It was in this context that Deuteronomy gave a one-time historical instruction, unlike Islam’s continuous mandate.BTW Pelosi claims to be Catholic yet advocates abortion, there’s another example of apostasy for ya…
Pelosi advocates abortion??? When? Where? Which speech? Please do tell, because this is a new one on me.
bB,
“When attempting to defend the indefensible a common tactic is to demonize those who would point to the obvious problems in policy…”
Wise words.
Will you remind yourself of them the next time you accuse Jews of creating a new Holocaust? Or that they are practicing genocide? Or that their government is really a form of Apartheid? That Israelis are barbaric? That Israel poisoned 100 of their own children?
You have said all of these things, and that’s just at the top of my head. I’m sure I’m missing some.
You take such offense at being called anti-semitic. I don’t blame you.
However looking at this short list of your own demonizations and negative stereotypes you have written about Israel….wouldn’t it be more surprising that nobody ever did call you anti-semitic?
I’m not saying you are….but your rhetoric has become very hateful of late.
LC Just what do you suppose the Democratic Party’s platform includes? Dont you understand your own party’s position on a woman’s right to..murder? Who exactly sends tons of financial contributions to the democrats, hmmm maybe NARAL,? Planned (non)Parenthood? Those types certainly send nothing to conservative candidates, do they, LC? Mrs. Pelosi says her favorite book is the “word”, yet fails to say exactly what “word” she is referring to, much less able to quote from said “word”. Another lost loser trying to wiggle free from the address of the absurd…
MoD – don’t recall the poisoning 100 children claim……don’t think I made it.
…
lars:
1. I’m not a Democrat.
2. The Democratic platform is not pro-abortion.
3. The Democratic platform actively supports measures to reduce unwanted pregnancies in the first place, not only abortion after the fact.
4. 82% of Planned Parenthood clients receive help in preventing unwanted pregnancies, not in ending them. They also receive help with STD’s and other aspects of reproductive health. Planned Parenthood is far from a big abortion factory.
5. Ms. Pelosi didn’t say her favorite book is The Word, she said her favorite word is The Word.
I can’t believe I even dignified your blathering post with such a point-by-point, fact-based reply, when I should have probably just told you to go educate yourself, as you have me, but I have the interests of casual readers in mind, and the more I can counter your rantings with careful, level-headed, methodical replies, the better my own credibility.
1. But you were a democrat PCO during the run-up to the last presidential election. I do believe one must be a member of a particular party as a perquisite to becoming a PCO. Can a zebra change its stripes? And you have also been a… u-hummm, strong supporter of 0bama, a persistent parroter of every democrat talking point. and an unwavering supporter of democrat positions on every issue.
2. Please. Stating that you support abortion rights but not abortion is like saying you support a murderers right to decide for themselves whether or not to kill someone – but you do not support the act.
3. The democrat platform and pelosi enthusiastically defend abortion and contraception – both of which are against Catholic Canon and likely make the speaker ineligible for communion anywhere but in san francisco.
4. See 3.
5. Apparently her version of “The Word“ conveniently excludes the first Catechism:
“The second commandment of the teaching: You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not seduce boys… You shall not procure [an] abortion, nor destroy a newborn child” (Didache 2:1–2 [A.D. 70]).
HTH
Well said Dj.
“I’m not a democrat”
66 And as Cheryl was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:
67 And when she saw Cheryl warming herself, she looked upon her, and said, And thou also wast with Barrack Hussien Obama (formerly known as Barry Soetoro).
68 But she denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And she went out into the porch; and the cock crew.
69 And a maid saw her again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.
70 And she denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Cheryl, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a “progressive”, and thy speech agreeth thereto.
71 But she began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak.
LOL…
1. Yes, I was required to declare a party in order to serve as PCO back then, but I consider myself an Independent, and I strongly disapprove of quite a number of lawmakers sporting a (D) after their names.
2. I don’t condone pride, greed, sloth, hypocrisy, or gluttony either, but I realize what a legal nightmare would ensue should those moral transgressions be criminalized. I’m also aware that empirically, abortion rates increase where the practice is most heavily restricted and least available, and decrease where it is readily accessible and not stigmatized. I can show you statistics from various countries that bear this out.
3. The question wasn’t whether abortion or contraception violate the Catholic Catechism, but whether the Democratic Party’s platform supports “a woman’s right to murder.” In fact, I don’t believe our laws should be governed by any particular religious code — Catholics are still a minority in our country — but by the will of the people. And whether life begins at conception is a religious question — not all faiths agree on that — so abortion can’t legally be considered murder, even if it violates some consciences. What about people who feel animal experimentation is unethical? Should they be allowed to ban it if they’re in the minority?
4. See 3.
5. I’m not here to defend Ms. Pelosi’s beliefs. That is between her and her Creator, and if you think they are ignorant, wrong, hypocritical, or whatever, take it up with her.
The truth hurts… huh B?

you racist piece of crap.

You wanna know why I write that you are a racist piece of crap? Because racists make blanket statements about a whole race of people.
That makes you a racist piece of worthless white sh@t.

Its amazes me how the Liberal/Progressives who post here have the courage to defend the likes of Pelosi, Reid, Boxer, Frank, Franken, so many others to mention here.
They not only defend them but they admire and try to be just like them in their thinking process. Very dispappointing, that they can’t see these folks for what that are.
Yes, bB. You said it. I distinctly remember, because I went on a search for the story. It had something to do with Israeli scientists over-dosing children of some “lesser” Jewish sect, (according to you) with radiation.
I looked it up, and found the rumor, mostly on neo-nazi sites, and posted them for you. I also found a site where a biologist listed a variety of reasons that the story was pure horse-sh**.
As I remember it….you were horrified by the neo-nazi sites, and backed down from the claim…….
To further clarify our exchange, I feel I need to make it clear that you did NOT get your info. from some neo-nazi website.
My speculation (then and now) was that you got the rumor from a pro-palestinian site, or some other source that is hostile to Israel.
As always, when confronted with the truth, you acquiesced in a polite manner.
Some might say I shouldn’t have brought it up then….to that I say, one should always be careful when repeating something that sounds too juicy and bolsters their opinion to conveniently.
It will always come back to bite you….
No wonder I didn’t remember that one……
Usually a liberal, when embarrassed, might claim to be a (presto) Independent. So if San Fran Nan’s”word” is not contained in a “book”, again, what is the definition of her term “word”? It was fun watching someone who cant specify what they are talking about attempt to, you know, act, you know, like they think that you know, you know what (Miss Nancy) is trrrrying to say. Did you understand that,LC? If not, that’s how I kinda felt watching Pelosi waving her arms in the language of the languished…BTW Barry is getting paid too much if he cant identify when life begins and the rest of us have no problem, it IS within our pay grade, remember, he said he wouldn’t “saddle” his girls with “that responsibility” (referring to allowing an abortion for them), 20 years in Jerry’s “church”, huh?
Bb I guess that we can agree to disagree about “Who was on first” in the Promised land since neither of us will probably convince the other. But I would be interested in knowing on which first and final authority you might base your belief structure on. Source?…
Ron, maybe I haven’t been following the right threads, but I don’t recall anyone, liberal or otherwise, defending Pelosi, Reid, Boxer, Frank, and Franken. The only one I recall talking about recently was Pelosi, and mostly I thought her remarks were rather silly and nonsensical, but appropriate to the particular audience she was addressing. The others, I don’t recall myself or anyone else defending.
lars, the President was deferring (in my opinion) to the ignorant but sincere beliefs of some of certain religious persuasions who contend that human life begins at conception. That is a determination made by a few denominations that choose to ignore that legally, the END of life is when brain function ceases. Therefore life must begin, legally, when brain function begins. Otherwise, the embryo has no more claim to life than a tumor does. Thus, Obama, sensing a trap, decided to relegate the question to the faith-based realm, and the fact that you, along with others, presume to have the definitive answer on this question only exposes your hubris.
lars – I do not have a “first and final authority you might base your belief structure on.” That would make me an adherent of authoritarianism.
Authoritarianism is a form of social organization characterized by submission to authority. It is opposed to individualism and democracy. In politics, an authoritarian government is one in which political power is concentrated in a leader or leaders, typically unelected, who possess exclusive, unaccountable, and arbitrary power.
Interesting… I googled > someone who has no belief structure <
It was interesting what it produced…
Side note… are you telling us, B, that you don't submit to authority???
L.C. say’s “I declare myself an Independent” it’s comical to read how often L.C. changes her affiliations to fit the moment. One day it’s Barrack Obama is a gift from Heaven and will solve everyone’s problem (from his stash), the next day “I’m not a Demokrat, I’m an Independent”.
Well, today I consider myself a bird so I’ll just go out on the porch and flap my arms. That kind of represents L.C.’ ever-changing declarations.
