ENERGY: Pave the way to a cleaner future

Waking up to 210,000 gallons spewing into the Gulf of Mexico every day has re-awakened me to the absolute need to get on with the clean energy revolution. This tragic event is one huge reminder that we cannot continue our dangerous dependence on fossil fuels.

Our dependence is a direct threat to our national security. This massive spill is a clear reminder of the environmental and economic dangers we face as well.

We already know the answer. We need to reduce our dependence on oil, invest in clean energy sources – like wind, solar and geothermal – reduce carbon pollution from emissions and manmade disasters like this one, and create new jobs by developing clean energy sources here in America.

Our leaders in Washington face a clear choice: end our destructive addiction to oil and dirty fossil fuels or pave the way to a clean energy future.

If we want to truly protect our environment, our national security and our economic well-being, the president and Congress must step up their efforts to pass comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation. I urge Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell to ensure this happens immediately.

Lawmakers must heed the lessons learned from this disaster. We cannot wait for another tragedy before we take action.

There is a real easy way to insure the end to oil spills. DRILL BABY DRILL. Once we have it all out of the ground there is no more threat of spills ….

  2. Roncella says:

Roxanne, We actually should be doing more drilling along our coasts then we currently are. We also should be building more Nuclear Plants, processing clean Coal, Natural Gas. This would be done at the same time that Clean Energy discoveries would go on. We cannot just trun our energy needs over to windturbines, electric cars.

Roxanne, There are Countries that want to distroy America and our way of life. These Countries are controlling the price we pay for oil. Experts have said we have enough oil along our coasts to last us for many years to come. In the mean time, we can develope Green energies that would ease us off the need for large quantities of oil.

Looking at the Oil Companies record, they have really been very careful with few spills over a long period of time.
