CYCLING: Article was incomplete

As an avid South Sound cyclist I was pleased to find Craig Hill’s article, “9 tips to get your bike ready for Cycling Season” (TNT, 5-2). However, I was disappointed after reading the article.

Hill left out many vital pieces of information for the home mechanic. For example, I know of two bike co-ops in the Olympia area with tools, parts and know-how available to anyone: Bike and Bike, 302 4th Ave. E.; and The Evergreen State College Bike Shop at
TESC. The latter has a great blog site, too: evergreenbikeshop.blogspot.com. These two shops have saved me and my bike many times, and the people have always been extremely helpful.

Hill also neglected to talk about my favorite bike shop in Olympia, The Bike Stand at Olympic Outfitters. The staff have always been helpful and give great advice, but most importantly they do bike fittings. I was fitted for my bike for a $35 fee and was told that if I were to buy a bike with the store the fee would be waived. It only took 40 minutes and they use a cool fully adjustable bike to fine tune your fitting.
