The trio of Northwest hikers who are tackling the Pacific Crest Trail – all 2,663 miles of it – have passed the 1,000-mile mark, and are sharing some of the wondrous things they’ve seen.

Tacoma siblings Gus and Elena Wimberger, and Elena’s boyfriend, Carter Chaffey, have walked through desert, over mountain passes and around California wildfires.

On their website, where they share thoughts and observations each week, they’ve gone strictly visual for this edition – spectacular photographs by Chaffey, like the one shown here.
