A bee!
A bee!

On Friday morning, the National Geographic Bee opens its preliminary rounds for 100 Washington competitors – and by early afternoon, the contest will begin its final round.

Bring an atlas. The places these kids are expected to know? Yikes!

If you’re interested, the bee will be on campus at Pacific Lutheran University. At 10 a.m. the preliminary rounds open in the university center. The final round starts at 1 p.m. in the Columbia center.

The winner here will represent Washington in national competition May 20-22 in Washington, D.C., with a $25,000 college scholarship the grand prize.
