The reminders you notice on a long drive from Atlanta to Augusta, Ga., when you are reminded constantly.
I will try and update a little bit about my daily Masters journey: Like this morning, when I was up at my downtown hotel at 4:45 a.m. EDT for the two-and-a-half-hour drive to Augusta National Golf Club.
And the three signs I noticed throughout the 130-mile drive on Hwy. 20 eastbound:
* This IS Carl Sanders Highway.
* The MINIMUM speed limit is 40 mph (must be a non-Northwest thing).
* Littering on the highway is an automatic $1,200 ticket.
A thunderstorm moved through the area very early this morning, and drenched the golf course so thoroughly that Masters officials delayed the opening a good half-hour for the public.
That caused a significant backup on the highway exits; so badly I went past Augusta, turned around and went a back route that I repeated a few times in previous Masters trips.
