Moore right in the thick of things at Wells Fargo

As Puyallup’s Ryan Moore noted after his round Saturday, it isn’t luck or magic that has him on the first page of the Wells Fargo Championship leaderboard in Charlotte, N.C.

“It has been good, solid ball-striking,” Moore said.

The Cascade Christian and UNLV graduate fired a 4-under-par 68 in the third round at Quail Hollow Club. Headed into the final day, he sits at 13-under 203 – and in position to nab his second PGA Tour title.

His last one also came in the state of North Carolina – at the 2009 Wyndham Championship up the road in Greensboro.

Oakbrook Golf Club clubhouse gets refreshing jolt

The last trip of 2011 to the Oakbrook Golf and Country Club in January? The dreary interior said “stuck in the 1970s” – and it would since it was constructed in 1969.

The first trip of 2012? Ah … more like it!

PGA Tour golfer Ryan Moore, of Puyallup, purchased the Lakewood private golf course in late December as part of his monumental offseason transaction – founding the RMG Club, which manages three area courses with the intent of giving the public an affordable alternative to playing four-star facilities.

Since the purchase, the main quarters of the clubhouse were closed for immediate refurbishment. And on April 20, the restaurant area had its “soft” reopening for the public.

The early return: Wow!

The restaurant, now called “Oakhouse Restaurant,” is both an option for golfers who want to grab a bite to eat before or after their 18-hole rounds, and for the public in search of another date-night option.
