This week: U.S. Open, Thursday through Sunday, Merion Golf Club East Course, Ardmore, Pa.

Stanley’s first-round score: 1-over-par 71.

Stanley’s second-round score: 4-over 74.

Moore’s second-round score: 3-over through 13 holes.

Position: Stanley (5-over 145) is tied for 33rd, and Moore (12-over) is tied for 114th – all trailing co-leaders Billy Horschel and Phil Mickelson (1-under 139).

Recap: It was a long day for Stanley, who played 29 holes finishing up his first and second rounds. And midway through the first round, he made birdies at the 11th and 13th hole to get to 2-under, and one shot off the lead. But he made double bogey from the long rough in front of the green at No. 16, and fell off the first page of the leaderboard – but not off the map. At one point in his second round, he made 13 consecutive pars, which was crucial in making his first U.S. Open cut since 2009. … Moore went 28 holes to start the championship without making a birdie. That ended late Friday when he rolled in a downhill 6-footer at the par-5 second hole.

Tee times Saturday: Second round will resume starting at 7:15 a.m. EDT.
