This week: Waste Management Phoenix Open, Thursday through Sunday, TPC Scottsdale, Scottsdale, Ariz.

Moore’s first-round score: 5-under-par 66.

Stanley’s first-round score: 2-under through 16 holes

Kelly’s first-round score: 1-over 72.

Position: Moore is tied for 18th, Stanley is tied for 58th and Kelly is tied for 104th – all trailing leader Phil Mickelson (60).

Recap: Fresh off a two-week layoff, Moore posted one of the best scores of the afternoon – and tying his best opening round at this tournament (shot 66 in 2010). And his day did not start well. On the 11th hole, he hit his approach shot left in a lake, and it led to a double bogey. After that, he made eight birdies – five of them on putts of 10 feet or closer. His last one came at No. 9 where he nearly holed out a pitching wedge approach, stopping 11 inches from the cup. … The great thing about the back nine at TPC Scottsdale, it gives you legitimate eagle opportunities. And when Stanley returns to the course this morning, he will be staring down a 45-foot putt for eagle at No. 17. Two holes earlier, he rolled in a 25-footer for eagle to get to 2-under. … Kelly has played five rounds this season, and four of them have been over-par. He was 2-under through 10 holes before his tee shot at No. 11 went right, and he had to hit his second shot sideways into long grass – all leading to a double bogey.

Tee times Friday: Moore (off No. 1 tee) and Stanley (off No. 10 tee) at 7:15 a.m. PDT, and Kelly at 10:49 a.m. PDT off the 10th tee.
