This week: BMW Championship, Thursday through Sunday, Crooked Stick Golf Club, Carmel, Ind.
Moore’s first-round score: 6-under-par 66.
Stanley’s second-round score: 4-under 68.
Position: Moore is tied for seventh, and Stanley is tied for 16th – all trailing co-leaders Graham DeLaet, Rory McIlory, Webb Simpson and Bo Van Pelt (64).
Recap: As it stands after one round, both locals would advance to the Tour Championship in two weeks (Moore is 27th, Stanley 30th). Moore is really playing good golf, posting a bogey-free round with six birdies Thursday. And he birdied some of Crooked Stick’s toughest holes – at No. 18 (9-iron approach to 6 feet) and No. 6 (5-iron tee shot to 21 feet). In each of the three playoff tournaments so far, Moore has opened with a round in the 60s. … Stanley was nearly just as good (five birdies, one bogey). Three of his birdies came on the par-5 holes – including his last one at No. 9 (wedge approach to 8 feet).
Tee times Friday: Moore at 6:11 a.m. PDT, and Stanley at 7:17 a.m. PDT. Both go off the first tee.
