Ryan Moore, Kyle Stanley at BMW Championship, preview

This week: BMW Championship, Thursday through Sunday, Crooked Stick Golf Club, Carmel, Ind.

World rankings: Stanley is 55th, and Moore is 69th.

2012 earnings: Stanley has $2.31 million (29th on the PGA Tour), and Moore has $1.37 million (53rd on the PGA Tour).

FedEx Cup playoff standings: Stanley has 1,312 points (30th in FedEx Cup), and Moore has 1,205 points (35th in FedEx Cup).

Last tournament: Both locals reached this juncture last season before bowing out of the playoffs – Moore tied for 16th, and Stanley was 22nd when the event was held at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club in Illinois. But the Pierce County products are in much better shape of making the Tour Championship heading into the penultimate tournament. And with the rains hitting the big-hitter layout, Stanley could certainly use that to his advantage, ranked No. 9 in driving distance (307.2 yards per drive) – and No. 6 in drive carry (299.5). He finished tied for 42nd (2-under-par 282) at last week’s Deutsche Bank Championship to end a two-tournament missed-cut skid. … Since March, Moore has played very good golf, collecting five top-10 finishes, including last week’s tied-for-10th (10-under 274) at the Deutsche Bank. The top 30 golfers this week advance to the Tour Championship, and the only time Moore has done that was 2010.

Tee times Thursday: Stanley at 9:26 a.m. PDT off the first tee, and Moore at 10:32 a.m. PDT off the 10th tee.
