This week: The Barclays, Thursday through Sunday, Bethpage State Park (Black Course), Farmingdale, N.Y.
Kelly’s second-round score: 5-under-par 66.
Moore’s second-round score: 2-under 69.
Stanley’s second-round score: 2-over 73.
Position: Moore (4-under 138) is tied for 11th, and Kelly (2-under 140) is tied for 27th – all trailing co-leaders Sergio Garcia and Nick Watney (8-under 134). Stanley (2-over 144) missed the cut.
Recap: Considering Moore has missed the cut at this tournament four times in the past five years, this showing is a pleasant surprise. Moore was even-par through 15 holes before he birdied No. 7 (two-putt from 45 feet on par 5) and No. 9 (25-footer). … The better scores were posted in the morning wave, and Kelly certainly took advantage of that, tying Bob Estes, Trevor Immelman and Carl Pettersson for the second-best score of the day behind Henrik Stenson’s 65. And after an opening bogey, Kelly reeled off five birdies and an eagle, which came on the fourth hole (34-footer). … After 11 holes Friday, Stanley was 2-under for his round. Then the wheels came off at the seventh hole where he drove his golf ball in a fairway bunker, hit another sand trap on his second shot – and then blasted his third way over the green en route to a triple bogey-7.
Tee times Saturday: Kelly at 7:55 a.m. PDT with Blake Adams, and Moore at 9:45 a.m. PDT with K.J. Choi.
Next for Stanley: Deutsche Bank Championship starting Friday at TPC Boston in Norton, Mass.
