No tournament in the world has the trouble of unpredictable weather lurking, and this week’s British Open in England is expected to have its share of wind, rain and chill-to-the-bone.

Maybe one of the local golfers – Gig Harbor’s Kyle Stanley and Tacoma’s Troy Kelly – will get the good side of the draw when it comes to that.

Stanley tees for the first round at Royal Lytham & St. Annes at 8:58 a.m. local time Thursday – 11:58 p.m. PDT Wednesday – with Canadian Stephen Ames and Englishman Robert Rock.

Kelly is in the penultimate group – 5 p.m. local time, and 8 a.m. PDT – with Denmark’s Morten Orum Madsen and India’s Anirban Lahiri. All three are making their British Open debuts.
