This week: AT&T National, Thursday through Sunday, Congressional Country Club, Bethesda, Md.
Stanley’s first-round score: 1-over-par 72.
Moore’s first-round score: 2-over 73.
Position: Stanley is tied for 30th, and Moore is tied for 48th – all trailing leader Bo Van Pelt (4-under 67).
Recap: The odd thing this week – Congressional Country Club might be more of a challenge for this PGA Tour stop than last year’s U.S. Open, just because the track is playing so fast and firm. Given that, Stanley and Moore did not fare too poorly Thursday. Stanley chipped in from 20 feet at No. 10 for birdie, then landed his approach at No. 11 close for another birdie to get to 2-under. But he went long on his second shot at the 12th hole, leading to a double bogey – and he made two more bogeys thereafter. … Moore, who played in last year’s U.S. Open, was even-par through11 holes after his birdie at No. 2 (6-foot putt). But errant approach shots led to bogeys at Nos. 3 and 5.
Tee times Friday: Moore at 9:37 a.m. PDT off the first tee, and Stanley at 10:02 a.m. PDT off the 10th tee.
