Sunday at Masters: It’s Phil, then everybody else in line

Greetings. A glorious, sunny day here at Augusta National Golf Club this morning. Not a peek of a cloud. High 70s. Did I say glorious (and Happy Easter as well)?

A real change of plans Saturday with Gig Harbor’s Kyle Stanley out of the tournament. Got to relax a bit around the course. Ate lunch in the clubhouse. Saw a painting of one of the club founders … done by former U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Then there’s Phil Mickelson, who is everybody’s favorite today to catch leader Peter Hanson to win his fourth Masters, joining Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer for second all-time behind Jack Nicklaus (six). Love the way Mickelson is swinging the club right now. Love the way he is tracking putts. Sounds confident.

Here is my account of the late-afternoon fireworks from Mickelson and Hanson on Saturday in The News Tribune.
