This week: Shell Houston Open, Thursday through Sunday, Redstone Golf Club’s Tournament Course, Humble, Texas.
Stanley’s second-round score: 3-under-par 69.
Moore’s second-round score: 4-under through 12 holes.
Kelly’s second-round score: Even-par through three holes.
Position: Moore (5-under) is tied for 28th, Stanley (2-under 142) is tied for 66th, and Kelly (1-under) is tied for 86th – all trailing co-leaders Brian Davis and Louis Oosthuizen (11-under 133).
Recap: It was a long day for much of the field, including Moore – who probably wished he could have kept going considering his early-evening surge. His 4-iron approach stopped 10 feet from the hole at No. 18 – Redstone’s toughest hole – and he made the putt for birdie. He then sank another 10-footer at No. 1 for another birdie to get to 4-under. … Three final-nine birdies, all converted with putts 10 feet or shorter (Nos. 1, 5, 7), have given Stanley at least a chance of making the cut today. Otherwise, it is a flight out to Augusta to spend a couple more days preparing for the Masters. … After three consecutive pars, Kelly faces an 8-foot putt for birdie when he returns today at No. 4.
Tee times Saturday: Action resumes at 5:30 a.m. PDT.eam because of violation of team rules.
