One month in, and Moore changes caddies

The man that was rumored to be Tiger Woods’ next caddie last fall – Tony Navarro – ended up to a deal with Puyallup’s Ryan Moore to start 2012 on the PGA Tour.

That partnership lasted four tournaments. Moore parted ways the longtime veteran caddie, and now has agreed with Californian J.J. Jakovac to be part of the team.

Jakovac, a former two-time NCAA Division II national champion at Chico State, and Moore have known each other from college golf.

A former mini-tour player, Jakovac had switched to being a caddie in 2009 for Matt Bettencourt – and most recently

Stanley seeded 13th, takes on Choi in Match Play Championships

Seeded 13th, Gig Harbor’s Kyle Stanley probably would not want it any other way in his first WGC-Accenture Match Play Championships.

That is the neighborhood in which his beloved Gonzaga men’s basketball team is annually seeded for the NCAA tournament.

Stanley is in the Bobby Jones bracket, and will play No. 4 K.J. Choi in his first match.

He goes off at 11:45 a.m. PST on Wednesday – just ahead of Tiger Woods, who plays Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano.

The Bobby Jones bracket has a blend of bombers (Stanley, Dustin Johnson, Adam Scott) and 40-something golfers (Choi, Jim Furyk, Thomas Bjorn).

Gonzales finishes second at Nationwide Tour opener

Maybe Olympia’s Andres Gonzales wasn’t old enough to reel in the Pacific Rubiales Colombia Championship on Sunday – the first tournament on the 2012 Nationwide Tour schedule.

Skip Kendall rolled in a 25-foot birdie putt on the final hole to win the title over Gonzales and Andrew Svoboda.

Kendall is the third 40-year-old in a row to win this season-opening event, joining Steve Pate and Brendan Pappas.

Gonzales made a run, firing a 3-under-par 68 to finish at 9-under 275.

Kendall stumbled with a bogey at No. 16 to drop into a tie. He and Svoboda came to the 570-yard,
