PGA Tour is out; Asian Tour might be next for Putnam

Missing the cut by one stroke in the first stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School, University Place’s Andrew Putnam is looking at other options.

And very well could be headed overseas.

The recent graduate of Pepperdine University will firm up plans for playing professional golf in 2012 next week, but what appears to be at the top of the list is trying to earn his way onto the Asian Tour.

“A place to play consistently – that is kind of what I want,” Putnam said.

Two stages of Asian Tour Q-School will take place in Thailand. The first leg is scheduled for Jan. 11. Putnam would have to sign up for that by mid-December.

If Putnam does not opt for that, or fails to qualify for that tour, he said he would likely play a few mini-tour events, and also try and Monday qualify for Nationwide Tour tournaments.
