PGA Tour is out; Asian Tour might be next for Putnam

Missing the cut by one stroke in the first stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School, University Place’s Andrew Putnam is looking at other options.

And very well could be headed overseas.

The recent graduate of Pepperdine University will firm up plans for playing professional golf in 2012 next week, but what appears to be at the top of the list is trying to earn his way onto the Asian Tour.

“A place to play consistently – that is kind of what I want,” Putnam said.

Stanley in middle of pack at Australian Open

Gig Harbor’s Kyle Stanley, who had one of the best rookie campaigns on the PGA Tour this season, shot an even-par 72 on Thursday in the first round of the Australian Open.

Stanley birdied two of his first three holes at The Lakes Golf Club in Sydney, but struggled on the par-3 holes, including one on the finishing 18th.

The Bellarmine Prep graduate sits tied for 58th, seven strokes behind leader Jarrod Lyle. For leaderboard information, click here.
