Big morning push has amateurs leading Hudson Cup

Bonney Lake’s Sean Packer said what every amateur is thinking at the 63rd Hudson Cup at Lake Oswego Country Club in Oregon.

The losing streak has to end some time.

And the team of top Northwest amateur golfers are in great position to do just that. After two sets of team matches Thursday, they lead the professionals, 61/2 to 31/2.

The lead was spurred by a near-flawless morning session in which the amateurs captured victories in four of the five matches.

The last time the professionals lost in the Hudson Cup was in 1978 – at Manitou Golf and Country

Moore’s biggest title yet? Soon-to-be married man

Only hours remain in golfer Ryan Moore’s life as a single man.

The PGA Tour standout from Puyallup is getting married Friday – to fellow UNLV alumnus (and athlete) Nichole Olson – in Malibu, Calif.

At the outset of the FedEx Cup playoffs, roughly six weeks ago, I asked Moore how all the wedding planning was going.
