This week: Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, Thursday through Sunday, TPC Summerlin, Las Vegas.
Stanley’s second-round score: 7-under-par 64.
Gonzales’ second-round score: 3-under 68.
Moore’s second-round score: Even-par 71.
Position: Stanley (9-under 133) is tied for 13th. Gonzales (2-under 140) and Moore (1-over 143) missed the cut. Kevin Na, Jhonattan Vegas and Charlie Wi share the lead at 12-under 130.
Recap: A stellar round by Stanley (six birdies, eagle) was capped by his chip-in eagle at the ninth hole – his final hole – from behind the green. The 64 is the Bellarmine Prep product’s career-low on the PGA Tour. … The two UNLV alums bowed out early this week. Gonzales was stung by two early bogeys, but the longest putt he had on any of his final-nine birdies (Nos. 3, 5 and 7) was 12 feet. … For the second consecutive day, Moore bogeyed a par-5 hole – and finished with four back-nine bogeys. Not a good trend. Now he is off a few weeks until his wedding day in mid-October.
Stanley’s tee time Saturday: To be announced.
Next for Gonzales and Moore: Gonzales is in next week’s Frys.com Open at CordeValle Golf Club in California. Moore is done on the PGA Tour in 2011.
