This week: The Barclays, Thursday through Saturday, Plainfield Country Club, Edison, N.J. – the first leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs.
Stanley’s second-round score: 5-under-par 66.
Moore’s second-round score: 1-over 72.
Position: Stanley (8-under 134) is tied for 12th, six strokes behind leader Matt Kuchar (14-under 128). Moore (3-under 139) missed the cut by one shot, tying for 73rd.
Recap: With the threat of Hurricane Irene, tournament officials decided Friday that The Barclays would be shortened to three rounds – with Saturday being the final round. And Stanley will be the only local sticking around. Of his six birdies, four directly correlated with the Bellarmine Prep’s driving distance off the tee. He birdied all the par-5s (Nos. 5, 12 and 16), and he drove the 285-yard, par-4 18th hole, and two-putted from 35 feet for his final birdie. … Almost out of the blue, Moore had an unexpected meltdown early in his round. After he got it to 5-under for the day, he fell back to even-par in four holes – the 12th through 15th holes. The killer was a double bogey at No. 14 where he hit his tee shot into the creek in front of the green. Moore is projected to fall from 38th to 50th in the FedEx Cup playoff standings.
Stanley’s tee time Saturday: To be determined.
Next for Moore: Deutsche Bank Championship starting Friday at TPC Boston in Norton, Mass. – the second leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs.
