This week: The Barclays, Thursday through Sunday, Plainfield Country Club, Edison, N.J. – the first leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs.
Moore’s first-round score: 4-under-par 67.
Stanley’s first-round score: 3-under 68.
Position: Moore is tied for seventh, and Stanley is tied for 17th – all trailing leader Harrison Frazar (64).
Position: Before rain suspended play, the locals were stuck in neutral – at even-par. When it resumed, Moore and Stanley both made final-nine birdies to crack the top 20. In fact, Moore, of Cascade Christian, birdied his final four holes – the last coming on the drivable par-4 18th where he hit his 30-yard approach close, and converted a 2-foot putt. It was his best round ever at The Barclays. … Stanley had a birdie-making string nearly as impressive – three in four holes (Nos. 5, 7, 8). The highlight was a near-holeout with a 9-iron from 165 yards for eagle, leaving him with a tap-in from 19 inches.
Tee times Friday: Stanley (first tee) and Moore (10th tee) at 9:33 a.m. PDT.
