Another 6-under-par 66, another big amateur victory in the bag for Washington standout Chris Williams.

Williams tied his course-record mark from Friday to post a two-stroke victory at the 45th Pacific Coast Amateur over Anton Arboleda, of La Canada, Calif. He finished at 11-under 277.

In his final two rounds at Martis Camp Club in Truckee, Calif. he made 14 birdies and two eagles – both coming in the final round Friday at the fourth and 15th holes.

The junior from Moscow, Idaho, who won the Sahalee Players Championship earlier this month, has certainly set himself up for a U.S. Walker Cup bid. He would be the first Husky to be selected since Yakima’s Brock Mackenzie.

“Certainly he is a guy deserves very strong consideration, and I think his record looks good,” UW coach Matt Thurmond said. “Today’s win was huge for that.”

Four players shot 66 on Friday, including University Place’s Andrew Putnam, who was in ninth alone at 5-under 283. Tacoma’s T.J. Bordeaux (71) finished tied for 10th at 284.
