Derek Ernst, the U.S. Amateur Public Links runner-up last month from UNLV, and UCLA golfer Taylor Travis are co-leaders at the halfway point of the 45th Pacific Coast Amateur in Truckee, Calif.

Only one golfer broke 70 on Wednesday – Tim Madigan’s 3-under-par 69 – at Martis Camp Golf Club.

Ernst (72) and Travis (70) are at 5-under 139, followed by Madigan at 140.

Defending champion Andrew Putnam (73), of University Place, is in a group at even-par 144, tied for 11th. Sahalee Players winner Chris Williams, of the University of Washington, and Tacoma’s T.J. Bordeaux lead a pack at 145, tied for 15th.
