This week: RBC Canadian Open, Thursday through Sunday, Shaughnessy Golf Club, Vancouver, B.C.
Moore’s second-round score: 1-under-par 69.
Putnam’s second-round score: 4-over 74.
Gonzales’ second-round score: 8-over 78.
Position: Moore (2-over 142) is tied for 37th, and trails co-leaders Chad Campbell and Michael Thompson (4-under 136) by six shots. Putnam (9-over 149) and Gonzales (12-over 152) missed the 4-over cut line.
Recap: This is a layout Moore has flourished on, and he flashed that on the back nine Friday with three birdies – including ones on approach shots out of the rough on No. 14 (13-foot putt) and No. 16 (8-footer). … Putnam was 2-over when he faced two of the toughest par-4 holes on the course – the 18th (drive in right rough, missed 8-footer for par) and the first (drive in right rough, missed 10-footer for par), and made bogeys. … The rough got to Gonzales, too. Already 6-over on his round, he tried muscling an approach out of the right rough to the fifth-hole green that ended up in a creek in front of the green, leading to a double bogey.
Moore’s tee time Saturday: To be determined.
Next: Putnam, Moore and Gig Harbor’s Kyle Stanley are in the field for next week’s Greenbrier Classic at The Old White TPC in White Sulphur, W.Va.
