This week: PGA Tour’s Arnold Palmer Invitational, Thursday through Sunday, Bay Hill Club and Lodge, Orlando, Fla.

World rankings: Moore is 38th; Stanley 352nd.

2011 earnings: Moore has $649,673 (31st on the PGA Tour); Stanley has $207,586 (89th on the PGA Tour).

Last tournament: Moore has made five consecutive cuts this season, including a tied-for-44th at last week’s Transitions Championship (3-under-par 281). It’s his best stretch on the PGA Tour since the summer of 2005 (seven made cuts in a row) when he turned professional out of UNLV and earned full-time playing privileges. Former TNT golf writer heads Northwest Turf association

Gig Harbor’s Paul Ramsdell, a former News Tribune sports desk chief and golf editor, was recently hired as the executive director of the Northwest Turfgrass Association.

At the NTA’s Feb. 15 meeting, the hiring of Ramsdell, 53, was approved.

According to its Web site, the NTA has distributed more than $900,000 in research grants in nearly a decade and a half.

Besides working at The News Tribune, Ramsdell has been the executive director of the Western Washington Golf Course Superintendents Association (WWGCSA), and has served in various capacities for the Pacific Northwest Golf Association.

This week: PGA Tour’s Transitions Championship, Thursday through Sunday, Innisbrook Golf Course on the Salamander Golf and Spa Resort, Tampa Bay, Fla.

Moore’s second-round score: 2-under-par 69.

Stanley’s second-round score: 1-over 72.

Position: Moore (6-under 136) is tied for 11th, three strokes behind co-leaders Chris Couch and Garret Willis (133). Stanley (2-over 144) missed the cut by three strokes.

Position: Moore is tied for sixth, and Stanley is tied for 88th – all behind leader Paul Casey (64).

Last tournament: After a slow start, Moore has really come on in his last three events with a pair of top-five finishes, and last week’s tied-for-22nd (5-under-par 283) at the WGC-Cadillac Championship. The Cascade Christian graduate’s best finish at this event was a tied-for-eighth in 2007 when it was the PODS Championship.

This week: WGC Cadillac Championship, Thursday through Sunday, TPC Blue Monster at Doral, Doral, Fla.

Fourth-round score: 3-under-par 69.

Position: Moore (5-under 283) tied for 22nd, 11 strokes behind winner Nick Watney (272).

Recap: Like Saturday, the Puyallup golfer made his move at the turn as he birdied the 10th (6-foot putt), 11th and 12th holes (20-footers) to complete a five-birdie-in-an-eight-hole stretch playing with U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell.

Next: Transitions Championship starting Thursday on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort, Palm Harbor, Fla.

This week: PGA Tour’s Puerto Rico Open, Thursday through Sunday, Trump International Golf Club, Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.

Stanley’s fourth-round score: 5-under-par 67.

Putnam’s fourth-round score: 3-under 69.

Gonzales’ fourth-round score: 2-over 74.

Position: Putnam (7-under 281) finished tied for 22nd, Stanley (6-under 282) was in a group in 28th and Gonzales (1-under 287) was tied for 59th – all behind playoff winner Michael Bradley (272).

Recap: Putnam, the Life Christian Academy product, easily had his best finish of 2011. He would have been in the top 20 had he not made a late bogey on the 17th hole. …

This week: WGC Cadillac Championship, Thursday through Sunday, TPC Blue Monster at Doral, Doral, Fla.

Third-round score: 2-under-par 70.

Position: Moore (2-under 214) is tied for 30th, 11 strokes behind leader Dustin Johnson (203)

Recap: A slumbering Moore came alive on the final nine holes, on one of the best back sides of golf on the PGA Tour, for a day-best 32 to jump up the leaderboard. It was highlighted by a chip-in birdie from 25 feet on the par-3 13th hole – the most difficult hole on the course.
