This week: PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open, Thursday through Sunday, Torrey Pines North and South Courses, San Diego
Stanley’s third-round score: Even-par 72 on the South Course.
Position: Stanley (4-under 212) is tied for 24th, eight strokes behind co-leaders Bill Haas and Phil Mickelson (204). Putnam and Gonzales missed the cut Friday.
Recap: The Bellarmine Prep graduate recorded his second consecutive 72 on the difficult South Course – though the round Saturday had plenty more action (five birdies, five bogeys). He started out with three birdies on his first six holes, capped by a nifty up-and-down on the par-5 sixth from 35 yards, but then gave it all back. Twice the rest of the way, he had back-to-back bogeys (Nos. 6 and 7, and Nos. 16 and 17), missing tee shots to the right.
Tee time Sunday: 8:45 a.m. PST off Torrey South’s first tee with Richard S. Johnson and Paul Stankowski.
