Continuing my rounds (no pun, here!) with the local PGA Tour players. On Friday, we detailed how busy Puyallup’s Ryan Moore was in the offseason business-wise (link is here on his new company and acquisition).

Moore had what was his most consistent of seven seasons on the PGA Tour in 2011:

18 made cuts in 22 tournaments, $1.94 million in season earnings, runner-up finish at Travelers Championship

Starting to make my rounds with the locals on the PGA Tour. Today, I met with Gig Harbor’s Kyle Stanley, who is coming off a superb rookie season.

22 cuts made in 28 tournaments, $1.52 million earned, runner-up finish to Steve Stricker at the John Deere Classic.

Stanley gave his season a solid ‘B’ grade.

Word leaked out earlier this week that Moore and his family purchased Oakbrook Golf and Country Club in Lakewood. That is only the half of it.

Former U.S. Amateur champion Peter Uihlein is turning pro and is willing to travel.

In a decision that reflects the changing nature of a global game, Uihlein announced Monday he would not return for his final semester at Oklahoma State and will begin his career exclusively on the European Tour, not only through sponsor exemptions but even on Europe’s second-tier Challenge Tour.

Uihlein, one of America’s top prospects, signed with Chubby Chandler of British-based International Sports Management, joining a stable that includes Lee Westwood, British Open champion Darren Clarke and Masters champion Charl Schwartzel.

The first shipment of U.S. Open logo clothing is in at Chambers Bay, and starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday, it will be made available for purchase in the pro shop.

Items available include men’s and women’s shirts ($48.95 to $78.95 price range), jackets and sweater vests, and a large assortment of hats ($32).

Other stuff, including golf balls and bags, won’t be in until sometime early in 2012.

In these winter months, Tacoma’s Michael Putnam has spent more time answering questions than hitting golf balls.

His fractured left wrist (lunate bone), which he had in a cast for nearly two months starting in late August, has healed much slower than first anticipated. The Life Christian graduate has not resumed any golf-related activity.

And it appears at this juncture that Putnam will not be ready to go at the start of the 2012 PGA Tour season.

“(Doctors) did not give me best-case scenario – just the normal-case,” Putnam said. “And I have been slower in the bone-healing.”

So, how much longer? Putnam is not sure. He said the last doctors’ exam showed 40 percent improvement in the wrist’s healing. Another magnetic imaging resonance test (MRI) is scheduled next week in Seattle.

Missing the cut by one stroke in the first stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School, University Place’s Andrew Putnam is looking at other options.

And very well could be headed overseas.

The recent graduate of Pepperdine University will firm up plans for playing professional golf in 2012 next week, but what appears to be at the top of the list is trying to earn his way onto the Asian Tour.

“A place to play consistently – that is kind of what I want,” Putnam said.

A 2-under-par 70 in the final round of the Australia Open gave Gig Harbor’s Kyle Stanley a healthy paycheck in Sydney,

At 7-under 281, Stanley placed 11th out of a star-studded field. Greg Chalmers won the tournament title.
