Gig Harbor’s Kyle Stanley certainly finished up the final stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School in the same manner he started it – with a huge bang.

In the Bellarmine Prep product’s case for the final round Monday, he was more of a boom. He drove the par-4 ninth hole, sank a 35-foot putt for eagle from the back fringe and that catapulted him to a 4-under-par 68 to easily earn his PGA Tour card for the 2011 season.

And the All-American from Clemson closed in grand fashion on the Crooked Cat Course at Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge in Florida – with three birdies in his final five holes, including ones at Nos. 17 and 18. He finished at 13-under 416.

“I’m proud of the way I competed in the last 10 holes today, and as I was saying, the best position was to give myself an opportunity here,” Stanley said. “It’s nice when you know what you have to do, and go out under extreme pressure and do it.”

Stanley started the tournament as the first-round leader by two strokes with a 65.

He was 35th in money on the Nationwide Tour in his rookie season and had a chance to move up to clinch a spot in the top 25 to advance to the PGA Tour, but flamed out at the season-ending tour championship.
