Chambers Bay now offering all-you-can-play passes

For the golf-playing junkie who can make the stressful seven-mile hike up and down the dunes of Chambers Bay Golf Links, this deal might be for you:

Starting in January of 2011, an eight-month, unlimited-play pass will be offered to Pierce County residents for the price of $1,300. The months of play would be January through May, and October through December.

A 12-month pass is already available for $2,400, and is good for play during the peak summer months.

Christianson, Ferreira best of best at Jack Walters event

Linden’s Dana Christianson and Fircrest’s Jordan Ferreira were winners of the Jack Walters’ “Champion of Champions” tournament Sunday for reigning club champions from around the South Sound.

The 39-year-old Christianson shot a 2-under-par 69 at Fircrest Golf Club to edge Scott Schulz (70) by one stroke, and 2009 Tacoma City Amateur champion Jon McCaslin (71) by two shots.

“I knew if you shot in the 60s out there, you’d have a pretty good chance to win,” said Christianson, and he did just that in his six-birdie, two-bogey, one-doube bogey round.
