This week: PGA Tour’s BMW Championship, Thursday through Sunday, Cog Hill Golf and Country Club, Lemont, Ill.
Third-round score: 5-under-par 66.
Position: Moore (8-under 205) leads after three rounds, one stroke ahead of Dustin Johnson, Matt Kuchar and Charlie Wi.
Recap: The Puyallup product is in a position he hasn’t been in 2010 – leading late in a tournament. And after only making one birdie en route to his 3-over 74 on Friday, he made six of them Saturday – the last coming on the par-5 15th where he left his second shot in the fairway collar just short of the green, and he got up-and-down from 25 yards for a birdie to get to 8-under. He shared the lead until Wi bogeyed the 17th hole. “I came here to win a golf tournament,” Moore said.
A relaxed Moore even had a funny quip about the fat tie he wore Saturday with his vintage-look outfit – the same one he donned Friday as well: “It redeemed itself,” he said.
Tee time Sunday: 10:45 a.m. PDT with Johnson.
