This week: Nationwide Tour’s Moonah Classic, Thursday through Sunday, Moonah Links, Fingal, Victoria, Australia.

Third-round score: 4-over-par 76.

Fourth-round score: 1-under 71.

Position: Putnam (even-par 288) will finish in the top 40, and cash his first paycheck in 2009.

Recap: The Tacoma golfer certainly made strides,
but still has a few kinks to work out. His 13 birdies were matched by
13 bogeys. His two eagles were matched by a pair of double bogeys. The
fourth round was easily his best ball-striking round of the season (hit
13 of 14 fairways, and 15 of 18 greens

First-round score: 2-over-par 74.

Second-round score: 5-under-par 67.

Position: Putnam (3-under 141) sits in a group tied for 22nd, five strokes behind co-leaders Michael Sim and Josh Teater.

Recap: The Tacoma golfer posted his first under-par
round of 2009 when he came out blazing in his opening nine holes (four
birdies, one eagle). He was 6-under during a five-hole stretch,
including an eagle at the par-5 15th. Putnam has had an eagle in each
of his first two rounds.

Troy Kelly at Mayakoba, 1st Rd.

This week: PGA Tour’s Mayakoba Golf Classic, Thursday through Sunday, El Camaleon Golf Club, Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

First-round score: 12-over-par 82.

Position: After his round, Kelly withdrew from the tournament. Bo Van Pelt leads after his 7-under 63.

Recap: Three double bogeys, and a quadruple bogey-8
on the par-4 14th led to Kelly’s worst round of 2008. He hit eight of
18 greens in regulation. He was one of three golfers to withdraw after
the first round.

golfer has gone through a swing change in the offseason, and said it
could be a few events before his game starts clicking. He’s had three

2009 earnings: $11,178 (185th on the PGA Tour).

Last tournament: Kelly, the Tacoma native, hasn’t
made a cut since opening with a tied-for-65th at the Sony Open in
mid-January. Since then, he’s missed three cuts in a row – with five of
his past six rounds scoring 75 or higher. The University of Washington
