Vicci Martinez to perform new single on ‘The Voice’ tonight

Tacoma’s Vicci Martinez will perform her new single duet with Cee Lo Green, “Come Along,” on NBC’s “The Voice” tonight.

Green was Martinez’s coach during last season on which she placed third.

“Come Along” is the title track of her new four song EP out today. It’s the precursor to the June 19 release of her debut LP, Vicci, through Universal Republic Records. Two days before, on Sunday, June 17, she will be performing at Jazzbones in Tacoma. Details are below.

“The Voice” airs on NBC tonight at 9 p.m. All four finalists from last

You still might be able to get tickets to Vicci Martinez’s Sunday show

The benefit hometown hero Vicci Martinez is playing Sunday at Jazzbones sold out almost immediately. But the man who it’s being held for, Reed Riley, tells me more tickets will be made available today.

Riley doesn’t know exactly how many and when but if you really want them keep checking the Jazzbones website, Riley says. Martinez wants a full house and is adamant that there be no guest list, Riley says.

Riley was Martinez’s booking agent for 10 years and now he’s facing an upcoming open heart surgery. Martinez is the headliner for Sunday’s 6

Sanjaya is back and he’s at Jazzbones

All this excitement over Vicci Martinez reminds me (tangentially) of another local turned TV talent show star: Federal Way’s Sanjaya Malakar.

Fanjayas, you have something to celebrate: the “American Idol” alum will be playing Jazzbones Sunday in a 7 p.m. show. It’s a stop on his State of Independence tour.

I’ve seen some recent videos of Sanjaya and I’d say both his voice and his appearance have matured but whether it’s in a good way…well, I’ll leave that to the fanjayas.

Sanjaya is sharing the bill with Brave Chandeliers and Chris Blair in the all ages

Tonight’s the night for Tacoma’s Vicci Martinez. She delivers her final competitive performance on the NBC talent show, “The Voice.”

Read my Monday interview with Martinez here.

The show starts at 9 p.m. on channel 5. It’s tape delayed from its live east coast broadcast. We’ll be posting a recap from the show later tonight.

Vicci Martinez feels the love…and vindication

I just got off the phone with Tacoma’s own Vicci Martinez. She literally had just come off the stage at “The Voice” but had a few seconds to tell me what it felt like to advance to the top eight.

Martinez was justifiably excited by her win but she also felt a feeling of vindication.

“It was just pretty unreal. In the past I’ve been told I’m just not right (by industry types). I need to be this and be that…To have America vote for me…(I can say) You guys are wrong.”

Martinez closed the show tonight with a performance
