Bumbershoot 2013 will include Heart, Death Cab for Cutie, fun., and Vicci Martinez

The Northwest’s own Heart and Death Cab for Cutie will headline Seattle’s annual Bumbershoot festival this year. Bumbershoot takes over Seattle Center every Labor Day weekend and features concerts, literary events, art, comedy and more. This year’s festival runs Aug. 31 to Sept. 2.

The festival’s music lineup, which was announced this morning, also includes fun., Vicci Martinez, MGMT, Kendrick Lamar, Bob Mould, Tegan & Sara, Icona Pop, Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience, Eric Burdon & The Animals, and Bassnectar.

You might be surprised to learn that this is the first time Heart will play at its hometown music festival.

Vicci Martinez to appear on ‘Today’ Thursday morning

Vicci Martinez will appear on the “Today” show with Al Roker Thursday morning, the Tacoma singer-songwriter posted on her Facebook page Wednesday evening.

Martinez didn’t say what the subject was but her duet with CeeLo Green single “Come Along” is getting increased airplay and climbing the charts. It’s now at 19 on the Hot Adult Contemporary Chart, up from 34 in December. She was a finalist on the first season of the NBC hit “The Voice.”

Martinez said her appearance would occur around 8 a.m.

Vicci Martinez looking for video shoot extras

Tacoma singer-songwriter Vicci Martinez will be shooting a music video in Seattle on Sunday and wants you in it. If you are 18-35 years old.

An announcement was posted on her Facebook page today:

Vicci is inviting a small group of her fans to help her out. She is looking for 20 – 25 men and women, between the ages of 18 and 35 to come make her video a successful one. The filming will be between the hours of 11am and 8pm on Sunday, 3/10 in Seattle, WA, and you would be asked to stay for the entire

Vicci Martinez to perform with Seattle Women’s Chorus

If you missed hometown hero Vicci Martinez’s recent performances at Tacoma’s Jazzbones and Seattle’s Jazz Alley you have another chance to hear her. And this time she’s going to be backed up by a full chorus.

Martinez will perform with the Seattle Women’s Chorus on February 8 in an 8 p.m. show at Benaroya Hall. “Celebrate!” marks the 10th anniversary season for SWC.

Vicci Martinez is Free For All on Sept. 22

Tacoma singer and “The Voice” finalist Vicci Martinez will perform at the Fall Free For All on Sept. 22 in Tacoma.

The annual community arts festival sponsored by the Broadway Center for the Performing Arts features over 50 music, dance, drama, film and children’s events over two days. Best of all – it’s free.

Martinez’s acoustic performance will take place at the Pantages Theatre at 9 p.m. And yes, it’s free.

Here’s the catch – It’s small, but important:
The event requires email registration to gain wristband pass access.

Vicci Martinez to perform new single on ‘The Voice’ tonight

Tacoma’s Vicci Martinez will perform her new single duet with Cee Lo Green, “Come Along,” on NBC’s “The Voice” tonight.

Green was Martinez’s coach during last season on which she placed third.

“Come Along” is the title track of her new four song EP out today. It’s the precursor to the June 19 release of her debut LP, Vicci, through Universal Republic Records. Two days before, on Sunday, June 17, she will be performing at Jazzbones in Tacoma. Details are below.
