Nellie Veitenheimer discusses her exit from ‘The Glee Project’

UPDATE: Veitenheimer will be opening Saturday’s air show at Joint Base Lewis-McChord by singing the national anthem. On Friday she’s going up for a ride with the Thunderbirds. A day after Tacoma singer Nellie Veitenheimer was dropped from the “The Glee Project” the newly-minted reality show star was back in Tacoma wrapping up her life and getting ready for a permanent move to Los Angeles next week. Until her debut on the Oxygen Network’s show the 20-year-old was working at a Starbucks near Pacific Lutheran University and singing in a band. Now, she’s headed to Tinseltown for a career

Tacoma’s Veitenheimer gets the ax on ‘The Glee Project’

It didn’t come as a shock tonight when Tacoma singer Nellie Veitenheimer was eliminated from “The Glee Project.”

The signs of Veitenheimer’s demise were all over the episode from the beginning. I figured she was doomed when the show’s theme – theatrically – was announced. Uh oh, Nellie!

The episode’s homework assignment was “I Hope I Get It” from “A Chorus Line” and the guest mentor was Grant Gustin (Sebastian on “Glee.”)

Gustin reminded the cast that theatrically translates into heightened emotion. As usual, Veitenheimer gave a strong vocal performance but a lackluster theatrical performance.

‘Glee Project’ recap: Veitenheimer gets slushed and almost flushed

The contestants on “The Glee Project” got hit with a double whammy tonight: Slushies and Jane Lynch.

The theme for this week was fearlessness. The homework assignment was “Now That We Found Love” by Heavy D & the Boyz.

This being “The Glee Project” we couldn’t get two minutes in without hearing from Aylin about how she’s a flirt and a conservative Muslim.

“I do not know this song,” Tacoma’s Nellie Veitenheimer said as Nervous Nellie slowly began to appear again. “I continue to get feedback that I lack energy. I’m going to feel as uncomfortable as I

Waiting for a girl like Nellie: Tacoma’s Veitenheimer adapts on ‘The Glee Project’

Ten contestants were asked to adapt on tonight’s episode of “The Glee Project.” Nine did so. Fortunately for Tacoma singer Nellie Veitenheimer she was one of them.

Tonight’s theme was adaptability. The homework assignment was Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know” and the guest mentor was Kevin McHale who plays Artie on “Glee.”

The cast was given lines to sing but when McHale appeared he informed them they would all be singing the song as a solo. It’s all part of the adaptability theme which apparently translated into “we’re going to spring everything on you at the last minute.”

‘Glee Project’ recap: Nervous Nellie gets sexy and takes the show

Sexuality was the theme of tonight’s episode of “The Glee Project” and Tacoma singer Nellie Veitenheimer brought it.

At the top of the show Veitenheimer, 20, admitted the theme made her nervous. And that she was a virgin. And that she’s never seen a man naked.

Veitenheimer may be the first virgin in reality show history. She makes me proud to be a Tacoman.

“Glee” cast member Naya Rivera (Santana) was the guest mentor on the show. Rivera told Veitenheimer she needed to get over that nervousness.

Meanwhile Aylin was a little too enthusiastic about the

Tacoma singer gets vulnerable with ‘Glee’s’ Cory Monteith

Read my interview with Nellie Veitenheimer here.

“Glee” cast member Cory Monteith was this week’s mentor on “The Glee Project” and the recipient of his one-on-one session was Tacoma singer Nellie Veitenheimer.

Tonight’s theme was vulnerability and the cast’s homework assignment was Kelly Clarkson’s “My Life Would Suck Without You.” Veitenheimer’s performance on the song won her the session with Monteith and the lead in this week’s music video.

Monteith plays the always vulnerable Finn Hudson on “Glee.”

Continuing on the vulnerability theme the cast performed REM’s “Everybody Hurts” as the episode’s music video.

Tacoma singer survives another round of the ‘The Glee Project’

Tacoma singer Nellie Veitenheimer became a party rocker tonight and made it to episode three of “The Glee Project.”

The reality TV show will send one talented and lucky contestant on a seven episode stretch on the hit Fox-TV show “Glee.”

Read my interview with Veitenheimer here.

Tonight’s episode featured a music video of LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem” with the cast. Veitenheimer had to kiss several of the male cast members of the show during a spin-the-bottle segment of the video. It was a task she didn’t relish, she said on the show.

The creative directors of

A Tacoma woman who has sung with a swing band since the age of 12 is a contestant on “The Glee Project.” The season premieres tonight on the Oxygen network.

Nellie Veitenheimer, 20, was working as a Starbucks barista near Pacific Lutheran University when she auditioned for the reality show last fall. The show pits 14 contestants against each other to win a seven-episode role on the Fox-TV musical hit “Glee.”

The scripted drama, based at a fictional high school, makes use of the latest popular hits
