Fort Nisqually goes to the ghosts

Celebrate Halloween like they did in the days before scary movies: listening to ghost stories around a bonfire.

The Fort Nisqually Foundation is putting on “Bonfires, Beaver Pelts & Bogeymen,” 7-9 p.m October 28 and 29. Organizers remind you to dress accordingly and to bring chairs or blankets but not bring umbrellas. Seating begins at 6:30

Fort Nisqually gets cooking

Ever wondered what it was like to cook in pre-microwave days? How about pre-electricity and pre-running water days?

“What’s Cooking at Fort Nisqually” will take visitors back to the 1800s with a day of cooking techniques and other day-to-day activities.

Re-enactors will create a day out in 1855 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 18 at the recreated fort in Point Defiance Park.
