“Falling Skies” actors and showrunner reveal next season’s secrets at Comicon

The showrunner and two actors from the hit TNT alien invasion series “Falling Skies” kicked off Emerald City Comicon’s fan panels Friday.

Actors Drew Roy and Colin Cunningham and Executive Producer Remi Aubuchon said the two-hour June 17 premier for season two will take place three months after Tom (Noah Wyle) stepped aboard the alien spacecraft.

“This is a dark season, you guys. It’s wicked and bad ass and you’re in for a treat,” Cunningham said. He added that viewers are going to see inside the alien ship. “It’s not anything you can imagine.”

Jon Bernthal of “The Walking Dead” on why he hates zombies

Emerald City Comicon starts today. There’s just too much going on there to list it all here. Read my interview with AMC’s “The Walking Dead” actor Jon Bernthal here. We talk about what it was like to film his final scene, his new projects, his misguided youth and why he hates zombies in real life.

George Takei leads star-studded roster at Emerald City Comicon

It all starts tomorrow: Three days of pop culture fandemonium at Emerald City Comicon.

Tomorrow, we’ll publish an interview with Jon Bernthal of AMC’s “The Walking Dead.”

All weekend I’ll be blogging from ECCC and on Sunday I’ll interview James and Oliver Phelps on stage at 1 p.m. They’re the Weasley twins from the “Harry Potter” films.

In addition to Takei, Bernthal and the Phelps men other media stars include “Battlestar Galatica’s” Edward James Olmos and “Game of Thrones’ ” Jason Momoa. Most will be speaking at fan panels, signing autographs

Jason Momoa replaces Katee Sackhoff at Emerald City Comicon

UPDATE: Read what Jason Momoa had to say about “Game of Thrones” and his acting career at last weekend’s Emerald City Comicon.

“Game of Thrones” and “Conan the Barbarian” star Jason Momoa is the latest celebrity guest announced for next week’s Emerald City Comicon in Seattle.

Momoa is replacing Katee Sackhoff (“Battlestar Galactica”) who had to cancel her appearance at ECCC due to filming conflicts with her latest movie, “Chronicles of Riddick 3.”

Momoa, who rose to fame on “Baywatch” and later starred in “Stargate: Atlantis,” will now be appearing all weekend.

Edward James Olmos to attend Emerald City Comicon

Emerald City Comicon announced today that they’ve just added actor Edward James Olmos to the lineup of celebrity guests.

Olmos first hit the big time back in the 80s in the pastel-colored 80s police drama “Miami Vice” and the classic sci-fi film “Blade Runner.” More recently he starred in the fan favorite sci-fi series “Battlestar Galactica.”

Olmos is a Golden Globe and Emmy award-winning, Oscar and Tony nominated actor and activist.

ECCC runs March 30-April 1st, 2012 at the Washington State Convention Center. Olmos will be appearing Friday only.

Harry Potter fans rejoice: The Weasley twins are coming to Emerald City Comicon

Yes, you are seeing double. James and Oliver Phelps, The Weasley twins from “Harry Potter,” are coming to Seattle’s Emerald City Comicon this month.

The British twin actors who play Fred and George Weasley have just been added to the pop culture explosion that is ECCC March 30-April 1 at the Washington State Convention Center.

The Phelps boys were recurring characters in the decade-long HP franchise, featured in all eight of the films. They played the brothers of Harry Potter pal Ron Weasley.

Fleet of DeLoreans to take Christopher Lloyd ‘Back to the Future’ at ECCC

UPDATE (March 13): Christopher Lloyd will not appear at this year’s at Emerald City Comicon. Replacing him is fellow “Back to the Future” actor Lea Thompson. Thompson is known for her role as Michael J. Fox’s mother, Lorraine McFly.

Thompson’s other credits include the lead role for four seasons on NBC’s “Caroline in the City,” “Red Dawn,” “Some Kind of Wonderful,” “SpaceCamp” and “All The Right Moves”.

Thompson will be replacing Lloyd for the SIFF screening of “Back to the Future” and Q&A at the Uptown Theatre. Lloyd has apparently signed on with a sitcom and couldn’t make his schedule

Jay and Silent Bob get old at Emerald City Comicon


Jay and Silent Bob

The film comedy duo Jay and Silent Bob are headed to Emerald City Comicon in April.

The pair, whose real names are writer/director Kevin Smith and actor Jason Mewes, will make a special one night only appearance at 7 p.m. on April 1 (no, this is not an April Fools Day prank.)

Smith and Mewes left their mark on pop culture history with films like “Clerks,” “Mallrats,” “Chasing Amy,” “Dogma,” “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” and “Clerks 2.”

In Seattle they will record their comedy podcast “Jay & Silent Bob Get Old.” Tickets for the event will be sold separately. See below for more info.
